Remembering
A year has passed. One year, and we remember all the lives that were cut short that day.
One of those horrible moments in our past that we cling to, highway markers seared into our collective consciousness with questions of "where were you?"
I was here, in this very living room. Surfing the net, watching TV while my kids were at school. I ran out to my daughter's school and stood on the sidewalk, as if to will the children inside to find a safer world, a better world than the one they would walk into that cold afternoon.
One year.
Sustained by words of faith, comforted by precious memories, we kindle the light in remembrance. "The human spirit is the light of Adonai"(Proverbs 20:27) As this light is pure and clear, so may the blessed memory of the goodness and nobility of character of our dear ones illumine our souls.
The Light is kindled.
