11 Months

As you can see from the last post, Claire is getting to be quite the Big Girl. Apple-gnawing, and all that.

She's also still nursing, with 5 teeth in her head and likely more on the way, given how she's chewing on everything in sight. Including me - which leads me to the decision to wean her. It's been a long time coming, and I'm trying not to feel too much like I'm losing something. This is part of growing up. She wasn't going to nurse for an extended period anyway. I thought to give it up at 6 months, 9 months, but she wasn't having it.

Yesterday and today have been some of the most painful nurisng sessions we've had. She can't figure out how to get her latch around those teeth! And, so we're done. It's not going to be easy - she's still taking the breast 3 times a day.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Go slow with the weaning. Take away one feeding at a time. That's how I did it with all the kiddos. It didn't take me ages to wean, either. GOOD LUCK!
